Setting up Lights in Your Bedroom

Even though it might seem like you will not be spending a lot of time in the bedroom, you still need to install lighting that will allow you to do all the important things. Be careful though, because the wrong choice of lamps and fixtures could disrupt the balance of your overall design.

Form or Function?

Prior to deciding on your lights in the bedroom, you will have to decide whether you will use it for decoration or for having a function. Furthermore, you should avoid having too many lamps in your bedroom, as they could give off an overwhelming feeling that could interrupt your bedroom time. Your goal is to create a space where you can kick back and relax, and have a good night sleep.

DIY Ambient Light to Spice up Your Bedroom

Creating the perfect ambient for your bedroom might include some handiwork, but it does not mean that you should spend a lot of money on it either. With some creativity and hard work, you can set up ambient lighting that will give your bedroom a character. Though, be careful when handling electrical elements and electricity, because you might end up getting shocked.

Forget About Symmetry

Try to aim for balanced and layered lighting in your bedroom, because symmetry will be unimportant. Even more so, if you create an uneven contrast of lamps and lights, it might make your bedroom design better. Furthermore, the goal is to create an interestingly lit room which will have a bit of mystery shrouding it.

Create Flexibility

As the bedroom has become more than just a room you come in to sleep and spend a tiny amount of time, you need to focus on getting lights which will be flexible enough for you to adjust them. Working in the bedroom will also be something you might have to do a lot, and in order to see what you are doing, you will need flexible lighting fixtures.

Introduce Small Lamps to Your Bedroom

Some lamps will need a purpose more than just to light up the room, but also to have a certain feature or a task. Bedside lamps will be useful to those who enjoy to read a lot, and who will need that extra bit of light without having to get out of the bed. Keep it simple and stay clear of using a large number of lamps, because it might ruin the design you were going for. Concentrate to get sleek lamps as they will fit almost anywhere, without imposing and disturbing the peace in your bedroom.

Install Subtle but Practical Lights

Besides having functional and bright lights in your bedroom, you need to focus on setting the mood as well. LED wall lights are a perfect choice, as you can program them to have different colours, and they will go great for any occasion. Be sure to have professionals come and help with installation, because you might get shocked in the process, or even worse, cause a short circuit that you might not be able to fix.

Bedroom lighting can be done however you want it, but you should make sure to follow a guideline in order to get inspired and to find creative solutions. However, as your bedroom will reflect you, be sure to instil personal touches to spice it up and to have perfect lighting which will suit all your needs. You can also play around with the colours of the light bulbs, which can have various results. Keep in mind that having too many lamps will draw away focus and ruin your overall design.
