How to Create a Minimalist Bathroom

Minimalism. It’s something probably everyone dreams of, but probably painfully few actually put into practice. After all, who doesn’t dream of a minimalist bathroom remodel with simple lines, gleaming white walls, and not a hint of toiletries in sight? But when it comes right down to it, how do you put those dreams into practice to create the bathroom you always wanted?

The truth is that creating your minimalist bathroom isn’t impossible, nor is it nearly as difficult as most people imagine. Your bath can be as “clean and serene” as you wish. And you don’t even need to hire a designer to create it for you. In fact, keep just a few things in mind and you will be on your way to creating the bathrooms of your dreams.

Minimalist Bathroom Remodel: Remember Essentials

Having a minimalist bathroom makeover means removing anything that is extraneous to what you need in there. The first step in getting in that direction is to get rid of everything that doesn’t need to be in there. It doesn’t matter how many hotel samples you have saved money on instead of buying. Get rid of them.

Think Every Day

Go through your daily routine. If you can’t remember using something on a daily basis in your bathroom, it probably doesn’t need to be in there.

Think Storage

If you don’t really have room to store everything you take from your bathroom, put whatever it is in a storage cabinet. Have a place for storage, even if it is something you have to create.

Watch Surfaces

There are usually few reasons to keep something on a surface after you have used it. As a result, you can create a minimalist look in your bathroom simply by varying your routine. for example, if you use your curling iron, then lay it on the counter, moving it to a drawer when you are done presents on thing off of your counter and your mind. And if you think about it, virtually everything you normally use in the bath is small enough and light enough to put away in a drawer until the next time you use it. And if you really can’t stand the thought of having to dig through a drawer to find things you use every day, why not create a small tray with all of your essentials on it that you can replenish and move to a cabinet when you are done?

Think Serene

If you really think about it, there’s not much serene about anything that is dirty. This makes the idea of cleanliness in your bathroom so much more important. Once you are able to clear away so much of your “stuff,” clean the surface to make that newfound space that much more attractive to see and use.

Up the Ante

If you are looking for a way to really up the ante in the minimalist bathroom department, why not do all out and paint the walls white or some other very light color? White or a light color always makes a room look bigger and also creates a sense of uniformity.

Modernize

While you’re on it, why not replace your fixtures with some that are newer and more modern? Today’s fixtures that were created by modern designers have simplicity as their watchword.

Use Glass in the Shower

Why not replace your old shower curtain with something more modern and simple looking like a clear glass door, or at least a clear shower curtain?

Replace Your Towels

While you are updating everything else, why not modernize your towels and washcloths too? Your new color should be white, and everything should match.

Maximize the Minimal

For a really spectacular look, keep everything in your minimalist bathroom remodel the same color, except for one object in the room. You might add a brightly colored candle or some other object to add a splash of color.
