Clean Tile On A Budget

Cleaning tile usually sounds like an easy thing to do. And it is indeed not that complicated, compared to many other surfaced that are a much more difficult task to handle. However, there are types of tile that appear quite a tough job to clean, especially if your budget is limited. Ordering cleaning services is a great way to have your place professionally cleaned but it costs money that you can otherwise invest is something that you would enjoy much more. The good news is that there are a few ways you can take care of your tile at home without spending much. Here are our suggestions on how to do it.

Basic Care

The first thing you should keep in mind is the fact that the more you take care of the tile in your house, the easier it will be to clean them each time. Therefore, make sure that you clean tile in your bathroom or tile flooring at home regularly. A regular care would consist of sweeping or vacuuming the floor daily, mopping with warm water and drying. As for the bathroom, using the remote shower head to wash tile a few times a week and then drying with a cloth is enough to maintain clean bathroom tile.

Clean Spills

Another thing to remember is the fact that in case of a spill, you should not postpone cleaning it but rather do it immediately. The more you leave stains on your tile floor, the faster they will become more complicated to clean since stains accommodate more dirt and later take more time and energy to remove.

Vinegar

A super inexpensive and yet very effective way to clean tile at home is to use vinegar. It comes with several advantages – it doesn’t interfere with your budget and at the same time, it’s safe for your health and the environment as well. To apply this green cleaning method, make a solution, mixing ½ cup of vinegar with about 3 litres of water. Use this solution in the traditional way, as applying it on a mop and cleaning the tile flooring. Then rinse with warm water to remove the smell of vinegar and remove any dirt that is left. Don’t use vinegar to clean marble flooring. You can also use this solution to remove dirt and mildew from bathroom tile.

Kerosene Against Rust

An inexpensive and quick way to remove rust from tile, is to use kerosene. Put rubber gloves and dampen a cloth with the solution. Then rub the stained area till you see that the stain is gone. Rinse with warm water to remove kerosene. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

Clean Grout

An inexpensive and easy way to clean grout is to use baking soda. This is a natural and chemical-free method to effectively handle grout. Make a paste, using baking soda and water. Then apply the paste on an old toothbrush and scrub into the grout. Rinse with warm water and dry. If the stains are very tough, apply the paste and let it sit for up to ten minutes before you scrub.

Steam Cleaning

Another super effective and inexpensive way to clean tile at home is to use a steam cleaner. The steam that is released is warmed to over two hundred degrees, which allows it to loosen tough stains and clean surfaces easily. This method doesn’t only clean tile but it also disinfects all types of surfaces, by removing harmful pollutants.
