Creating a Chemical Free Garden for You to Enjoy

Most people enjoy gardening, as it can be relaxing and fun to do. However, in order to ensure that you will be able to grow healthy and strong plants, you will have to look into how you can get rid of chemicals as much as possible and create a chemical free garden. Most pesticides will have a negative impact on the things you want to grow, and on the environment as well.

Grow Local Plants

Whether you want to create a lovely garden with many colourful flowers and shrubbery or if you wish to have a garden with plenty of vegetables and fruit to go around, you need to choose local plants. Avoid using exotic greenery as it will require more care, and in some cases chemicals which could be poisonous. Moreover, local plants and your lawn are already impervious to the climate changes in the local environment.

Control Pests in a Natural Way

Pest control has always been a big problem for any green thumb enthusiast, and while it can be easy to reach for a bottle of chemicals to get rid of them, you should avoid doing that. Instead, opt for natural pest control methods which will not use any chemicals at all, making it possible to give your garden a fresh look, and not to poison it. Furthermore, some pests can be helpful in chasing away the others, and help your garden become better.

Create Your Own Fertilizer

Even though you have a large selection of fertilizer widely available, it is best to avoid using industrially made ones, as they will contain a lot of chemicals. It is best to invest some time in making your own fertilizer and compost, which could be a lot healthier and your garden will be thankful. Moreover, it will allow you to mix in the right ingredients which could help some of your plants grow. Then again, it will be a great way to recycle some of the elements from your garden, making it self-sufficient.

Install a Simple Bird Feeder

While it might seem counterproductive to invite birds into your garden, you should not shy away from installing a bird feeder. Some species will be a great way to control slugs, snails and other pesky nuisances, keeping your garden safe, and chemical-free. Nevertheless, be sure not to overdo it, and to keep an eye out on what the birds are doing, to avoid having them pluck your garden clean.

Make Sure to Water It Regularly

Your garden will be most thankful if you can keep it watered on a regular basis. But, instead of using tap water all the time, it is best to either get a well dug out, or to collect rain water. Not only will it make it possible to save up on water, but, it will be a healthier option as well. Moreover, you can use spray tanks to set up your watering system, and to have your plants watered automatically. Ensure that your garden will never go thirsty, as it could quickly ruin the overall look.

Running an organic garden might be hard to start in the beginning, as you will have to battle with pests and fertilizers to get what you want from your garden. Nevertheless, the end results will be worth the initial pain and effort you put in. After all, having a great looking green garden will ensure that your vegetables and fruit are tastier than ever, and that your flowers are blooming. On the other hand, you will be able to cultivate a garden with a high level of environmental consciousness in mind.
